Many times, banks and credit unions that focus on military-connected members have better loan options for Veteran Business Enterprises (VBEs). Veterans can consider contacting a bank through AMBA or a credit union through DCUC. AMBA, the Association of Military Banks of America, has 140+ member banks across 50 states for a valuation of up to $15 Trillion. DCUC, the Defense Credit Union Council, has $525 Billion in assets across 180+ member credit unions. AMBA formed in 1959. DCUC started in 1963. The largest of the 140+ AMBA member banks are: JP Morgan Chase ($3.6 Trillion), Bank of America ($2.6 Trillion), Citibank ($1.7 Trillion), Wells Fargo ($1.7 Trillion), U.S. Bank ($659 Billion), PNC ($549 Billion), Truist ($527 Billion), Capital One ($490 Billion), First Citizens ($228 Billion), Fifth Third ($211 Billion), Huntington ($208 Billion), and Regions ($159 Billion). The USAA Bank is for military-connected patrons. It has $220 Billion in assets. Just as in the case of the other 4,300+ banks in the U.S., up to 80% of AMBA bank members are smaller banks with assets of up to $10 Billion. Smaller banks require a business plan for veteran business enterprises (VBEs) and small business enterprises (SBEs) up to 65% of the time. According to the Office of the Comptroller and Currency, U.S. OCC, 80% of all FDIC-insured banks are small banks. Small Banks are defined as having up to Ten Billion dollars ($10 Billion) in assets. Small Banks are a viable source for your business loan. Up to sixty-five percent (65%) of small banks require a business plan as part of your business loan application. Consider applying for a business loan at a military-connected bank or credit union if you’d prefer
